東シナ海沿岸での波侯推定に対する長期浅海波浪推算システムの適用性
Applicability of a Long Term Shallow Water Wave Hindcast System to the Estimation of Wave Climate along the Coastal Area of the East China Sea

Abstract
 Wave hindcast for the 2 years of 1986 and 1987 at 6 wave observation points in the coastal area of the East China Sea is attempted by the use of a long term shallow water wave hindcast system. Wind distributions over the sea are estimated every 3 hours by spatial interpolation onto a regular grid of atmospheric pressure data observed at irregularly distributed points in the area including the East China Sea, the Japan Sea and the Pacific Ocean, and the application of the Bijvoet wind model. Time variations of significant waves and mean wave direction every 1 hour are obtained with a shallow water wave prediction model belonging to the decoupled propagation model, in which the change of directional spectrum is traced along a refracted ray of each component focusing on a prescribed point. The validity of the system is verified by close agreement between computation and observation for time variations of significant waves at 3 observation points and long-term wave statistics at 6 observation points. Next, directional characteristics of long term wave conditions at 6 observation points are discussed on the basis of wave climate analysis of the hindcasted wave data.
